Hi,
I am now at home in Taupo working to get my RH7.1 box up and running for DSL
however I have run into a problem. I run the installer off the CD (I
downloaded the iso image off sagan.phys.... from a UoC Network jackpoint and
burnt the disk) The problem I am having is, after diskdruid and selecting
packages it then starts on its merry way by attempting to format the newly
created paritions however It takes 20 mins to format 800 MB and when I go
[Alt + F4] I get repeating messages as below,
--------------
<4>hda:timeout waiting for DMA
<4>ide_dmaproc: chipset supported ide_dma_timeout funct only:14
<4>hda: irq timeout: status=0x58 {DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest}
--------------
Disk: 4.3GB Quantum Bigfoot
6.1 /var/log/messages reports it as a "Quantum Bigfoot_CY4320A, ATA Disk"
I bought it in March 1998

So I thought well the disk may be screwed, (I have just driven from Chch to
Taupo with the machine in the boot) so I got out my RH6.1 Cartman CD (also
from an iso image off sagan) and it installed just great no hardware changes
at all. I am stumped,

1. Is my RH7.1 CD stuffed? How can I determine this
2. Is there a parameter I need to pass the installer to tell it something
about my drive.

Does anyone here have some wisdom they would like to share about experiences
similar?
Has anyone here succesfully installed 7.1 from the iso's on sagan.phys?
If I send someone a stamped return adressed envelope (containing a blank
disc) can you burn me a new copy and drop it into the post? (I am in the
land of 56K hell for the time being, which in Taupo is 32,100Kb/s not the
49,000Kb/s I enjoy in Chch)

Thanks,

Mark Carey.
