Does that tell you to stay clear of rpm 4.x? Why do you think some
vendor(s) don't shift to 4.x? Reliability??

Easy and safe answer: not.

I don't believe you. rpm version about 3.0.4 and above can install
version 4.x rpms (for about a year now). If that still doesn't handle
the rpm file, tell the rpm makers about it.

You can have my 3.0.6 rpm rpms. I never had a problem.
