This seems to be a reccuring theme - how about making, say, every third
meeting a newbie-orientated one? This could then be publicised as a
Linux learners meeting in the public, perhaps?

Just a thought

Steve

Hi Nick (& co),
OK I'll admit it .....with regards to Linux I'm pretty much a
newbie :)

The only experience I have with Linux was when I was given a "Linux for
Idiot books" for Christmas (with Red Hat 5.2) & actually had a go at
loading onto my machine as a dual boot config (Linux/....& dare I say it

......Win98). I actually did get the dual boot config to work without
either system swearing at each other however I came unstuck at the linux

end when I couldn't get either the sound or the modem to work. That is
basically as far as I have got.....however I would like to get a bit
further down the track in ability with regards to Linux. :)

At some stage I'm looking to have Jetstart hooked up to my flat & I'm
going
to be putting together a PC that will be acting as a firewall for the
rest
of the flat. I want to use Linux to do the job....can't be bothered
paying
a small fortune for a copy of Windoze to do that. What sort of hardware
requirements & software setup is required for that job ?

How about that for a topic ? :)

TIA

Stuart
