For what it's worth.. I've got two CD writers that work fine under RedHat 7.2, A BTC 32speed, and an old Acer 2speed..
The BTC is from Corporate Consumables, and the Acer is old as the hills in CDR terms.. I recently brought the new one as the old 2speed is starting to make frisbees under windows, and the 32 was the cheapest I could get at short notice. That's the march of technology for you, next time I need one they'll be DVDR's only, and 100speed ;-). The only CDR I've ever found that didn't work under Linux as an old HP Scsi 2speed job.. Under Linux I use xcdroast (whatever version came with RH7.2) but I find the interface a little clunky compared to the software supplied for windows. But it works fine under Linux, no frisbees out of maybe 20 disks cut so far, and none under windows for that matter. Cheers, Chris. ----- Original Message ----- From: "paul schulz" > I'm using Rh 7.2 and am looking to get a cd writer, only i find the Rh > hardware compat list somewhat unhelpful. > I was wondering if anyone has any advice / suggestions on compatible hardware.
