The Aopen writers get good and bad reviews on the net. On the forums people sware by them.. and then others can't stand them.
If your going with scsi make sure the card works/has support under linux. But the IDE one are near perfect now and burn at alot faster speeds eg under 3.5 mins for 650mb.. I think the scsi once were developed mostly for external use, but with USB2 and Firewire being a lot cheaper.. scsi writer days are numbered.
