Dumping the whole codebase may be a bit extreme, but it sure opens the discussion well ;-)
Maybe dumping the legacy support would be a good start, offer some kind of compatibility module instead, true type font support would be nice and an easy way for all applications to use it, smooth window moving like in OSX where you can still read it while you drag it etc. Sounds like XF 5 may improve on some of this stuff, but it's still behind the 8 ball compared to OSX. jeremyb. -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Gregan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, 15 July 2002 3:23 p.m. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Top 10 things wrong with Linux On Sun, Jul 14, 2002 at 08:55:31PM +1200, Jeremy Bertenshaw wrote: > I think it's about time to biff X if Linux wants to get serious > in the desktop market, anyone know of any projects in place > which are looking into this? Would you care to enlighten us about the problems with X that are so serious it requires dumping the entire codebase and starting from scratch? -- Matthew Gregan |/ /| [EMAIL PROTECTED]
