Linux is sure as hell not invincible, no OS is. 

I've had linux lock up/hang/freeze on me on a handful of occasions, but I
usually find that its to do with dodgy hardware, or corrupt installers
or something. The fact that i'm running debian unstable doesn't help
matters either.

I'm prepared to say "Linux doesn't lock-up like Windows", 'cause IMHO its 
true. I use linux because it more functional, and (most of the time) 
more stable. But when it breaks, it breaks so much more impressively 
than windows. (For example, the update I did yesterday, which removed
sawfish and gnome-terminal, and corrupted apache)

But don't let it worry ya, It's all fun 'n games...
