Because they don't know better and - to be frank - don't want to know
better. This is the way people are. Now, is it going to be easier to
re-educate all the users or write a GUI installer? The only text-mode
installer most novices will use these days is one like Knoppix (a Debian
distro btw) where they don;t actually have to type anything. And indeed,
why should they?
