There was a report a while ago about how more linux stuff shows up on Bugtraq than 
windows stuff does, u could argue that in the same way it's easier to fix holes when 
the source is available, it's also easier to find holes when you can examine the code 
and predict it's behaviour, less trial and error required to find faults.
