I too learned HTML with
notepad. Even today I still use notepad to create my basic page, and then use Dreamweaver
to add the tricky stuff later. I use Adobe Photoshop to create buttons,
ImageReady to make them roll-overs, and then use Dreamweaver to add the Java
scripted buttons to my standard page. I suppose you could do the
java stuff by hand, but a single typo will spoil your day. Dreamweaver will highlight
the syntax error for you (it highlights it in yellow), and then you have the
option of reviewing your page in IE or Netscape. You can then convert the pages
to XML, or other formats, add Flash content, WAV files etc with a drop down
menu, whatever. Nearly all professional Web designers use the Macromedia package
because it is so powerful and comprehensive in its range of options. Maybe some of the younger
fellows on the list should get over this anti-MS crap
and get real. Sure, MS is different from
Linux, but I don’t think I would suggest that one is better than the
other. It will be a long while before Linux comes up with anything that can
compete with Microsoft’s Active Directory, its
an awesome product, and if you get over your negative diatribe, and learn a bit
about it, you too will find that MS has a lot to offer. |
