Switch is an industry-standard term for something which contains additional hardware to get the same job done faster. All this from someone who writes the manuals for these things. Bottom line (as I see it): who cares what it's called as long as it gets the job done. Walking into a shop and asking for something which does X (short list of main requirements) gets around the BS nicely (it also has consumer advantages).
