Hey Tom. I use a couple of IDE's for hacking code up at home. KDevelop is nice &
quite similar to MS Visual C, it can be a little sluggish, but if you have a
reasonable box (my Athlon 800 is fine) then you'll have no problems. Anjunta is
lighter weight & aimed at Gtk development, I like the editor as it has collapsable
code (ie you can hide code between brackets).
Gideon (Kdevelop3.0) is looking nice, but is too unstable to use in a real development
situation. I only code C/C++, so there may be other/better editors around for other
languages.

Cheers
Brad

Subject: Software development tools

I've been lurking on this list for a few weeks and it's a great resource, so thought
it's time I introduce myself. I came to the InstallFest and since then Chris Sawtell
has very kindly been helping me get up to speed with Gentoo. I've still got lots to
learn about Linux, but I'm getting there!
I'm a self employed software developer with experience in several languages but mainly
C, C++, Delphi and PHP. As a Linux newbie, I'm really interested to find out what the
best development tools are. I like Delphi's IDE and ModelMaker for class design, so
I'd like to hear what tools you recommend?
Cheers,
Tom Munro Glass
