I am about tp purchase a new inkjet - my old HP670C having finally given up. Does anyone have recommendations - especially in regard to ongoing costs -

I have heard that some of the cannon printers are very economical, but noit
I've got an Epson Stylus Photo 830. It works well with linux, but its more suited to photo printing than general purpose. You will find the Canons will be better value for general purpose printing, since Epson ink is expensive...and is often wasted because all the colours used in cheaper Epson Photo printers are in one cartridge (if 1 colour runs low you need to replace the whole cartridge, even though the other colours might still be full)
If you need more advice on specific printers try...

They have heaps of great advice on how to get many printers running under linux...
