Or better yet (for the 3d gaming factor at least) would be one of the gentoo live UT or AA cd's ....if the box has nvidia (or ati for the AA cd) hardware that is ...as it acutally uses the nvidia (or ATI) hardware drivers as opposed to the default X drivers , it would give you a better representation of how the lappy is going to stand up to the opengl stuff ..
