Well, you decided to buy a printer for which you knew there was not
going to be opensource support. If you then feel it to be below
yourself to pay the pathetic amount of $$ asked for turboprint, you
don't deserve any better.

I found turboprint to be very worthwhile, and I still get the same
colours after a complete Linux upgrade. I do value my time too.

Your way of expecting everything for nothing is hindering the uptake of
Linux in business. There are cases where opensource doesn't deliver,
and a commercial solution which would deliver isn't viable because
everyone expects everything for free.

Btw vuescan was another US$40 I couldn't have spent better. I bought it
because of the very same simple reason - opensource didn't cut it with
my LS2000 film scanner. After mucking around with xsane, kooka, what
not on the same simple slide the scans were still all rubbish. Demo of
vuescan installed, clicked scan, spot on. The money is dirt cheap when
comparing mucking around for 1/2h PER SCAN for mediocre results when
one click just works.
