Now, I'm aware that this is a _Linux_ mailing list :-) but this sort of
solution is a _good_ one for promoting Open Source solutions.

In practical terms, Apache runs just fine on a windows box, whether
under Cygwin or natively. The same goes for MySQL, and PHP. The load
levels are low, and one small box would be more than able to support a
couple of client machines.

But that isn't the point ... well, it isn't _my_ point :-) Open Source
software != underlying operating system. Why not view the OS of a
machine in the same light as the hardware - i.e. as long as you have an
API to it, you're fine? There's nothing bad about running OSS on a
windows machine, it may even be seen as a very practical 'thin end of
the wedge' leading to taking more OSS, including the OS eventually.

I'm suddenly struck by the realisation that I don't know where the
source code for an Intel cpu is - but I don't see anyone clamouring for
a replacement for them ...
