Hi Yuri,

I helped a mate install 9.1 over XP on his new HP laptop with the same outcome. XP was stuffed, even though there was only 1 ntfs parititon for me to shrink and we had defragged. Anyway...

However, there's a built in DVD-ROM/CD writer (no floppy!) so now I want to watch DVDs.
Anyone clever on list willing to help me set it up?
Nothing to set up once you have the correct RPM's installed from PLF. It just works with Xine, Mplayer etc. Plus, you don't need Decss, it has been replaced by libdvd etc.

I don't even know where to
start, except I know I'll need this DeCSS thingy.

BTW: Specs - 2.0 Ghz CPU, 256Mb RAM, 20 GB HDD, Built-in ethernet (it works, I can ssh to my desktop over a crossover cable) NO FLOPPY, DVD-ROM/CD Writer.

Nice system,

Cheers

Jason

PS, my mates PC was one of those Big Byte HP super laptop deals at $1950. All worked save the Winmodem which was solved by a PCMCIA modem. I did the install with him, Mandrake slipped on like a silk glove and he is rapt!! I told him I'd restore XP on the first partition if he wanted but he wants to wait. I told him he probably won't need it and he agreed... =)
