I believe that some of you have used Knoppix to repair Win2k.

The Microsoft Knowledge base (is that an oxymoron?) has a suggested
solution....

If your system fails to boot because the System hive is corrupt, it may be
possible to rename the System.alt file to System to recover Windows. This
file is located in the Systemroot\System32\Config folder.

How does one use Knoppix to get more than just read rights to an NTFS
partition?

(I will also try asking Mr Google)
