Well I actually managed, using the Win2k CD to get a command prompt and
rename the suggested file but it did not fix the problem.

Looks like a rebuild.

........and before someone starts knocking Windows, we have approximately 50
PC's running W2k here in the South Island and this is the first "Blue screen
of death" type problem I have had to deal with.

I came to the conclusion last night that even *reading* is experimental
(read: doesn't work when you most need it). At least you can't break
anything. You don't get any work done either.

As for enabling writing, all the answers should be at
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/

Btw would anyone be able to check up whether the Linux ntfs can read
files >4GB (e.g. 4.1*1024^3 bytes) on an XP ntfs partition? Thanks.
