Sam, Please note that this is a LINUX users support list. We neither know nor
care very much about the details of Microsoft Windows. We are not prepared to
break the law of copyright by procuring and trafficing in copies of any files
which are subject to copyright by any commercial enterprise.

I see you are a student at the 'Varsity. That august establishment has methods
in place to support users of Microsoft products. I'm sure it's not beyond
your ability to find out locally how to get your computer fixed, possibly by
the licenced dealership on Campus. I think they trade as "Campus Computers"

The Linux solution to your problem is to install a Linux distribution, my
suggestion is to start with the LiveCD one known as Knoppix. You can obtain a
copy of it from the e-Caf in the Arts Centre for the princely sum of $5.00.
Put it in the computer and reboot. Your C: drive is only available in read
only mode to start with. You will have to remount the disk to allow youto
change a file. You can do this with the command:-
mount -o remount,rw /dev/hda1
Then use one of these programs to edit your file: kedit; kwrite; kate; vim;
and finally emacs. Close down Knoppix, remove the CD and reboot into Windows.

We can now consider this thread to be CLOSED.
