I had my share of dud media and then switched to Verbatim some years ago
and stuck with it even though my present batch is not made by Mistubishi,
but I still an satisfied with them. I find them reliable to burn and
read. The documentation suggests that they do not have the longest life,
but then I have yet heard of people using 5+ years old distros. Neither
have I had a request for them. I have had no problems reading my archive
CDs that are 2-3 years old.
If your backups are only required for ~5 years, the Verbatim would be
okay.
