That's to hot for an Idle Athlon XP. It sounds like the heatsink/fan combo you've got isn't capable or dealling with the heat generated at the lower speeds your using. The chip should be around 30-40*C depending on which core it uses when Idle, AMD rates athlon XP's to ~80*C (above that the chip will likely fry). You'll have to either increase the fan speed and live with the noise or try getting a better quieter Fan and heat sink system. Chad
