Hello all
I thought that I had better drop a line to the list about several
things that I have to tell about.

Recently my wife returned from Russia and bought with her a dual
language keyboard. To make it work I only had to install dual languages,
choose the keys that I wanted to toggle between the two and off we
go.Most of Mandrake 9.1 comes out in Russian when it is selected so she
is happy.

Recently there was talk about getting Sky digital on Linux. In this
country it comes down in DVB (digital video broadcast) format.I have
investigated a little on several forums and they do have linux programs.
I have not joined any of these forums because to mention the word 'hack'
or 'crack'can get you told off.I read about this on one forum a couple
of months ago.No doubt Sky has people monitoring or even joining these
groups to keep tabs on what is happening.I believe that using any of
these programs in N.Z. is classed as theft. But then again they would
have to prove that you were pirating sky. Having a satellite dish on
your roof is not illegal and they can be installed and aligned by most
aerial companies.
I will have to check my bookmarks and post the forum URLs on the list
for you chaps to investigate

When I first joined I enquired about 'Wine' for games. I want to play
Red Faction and UT2003 but they seem to be unsupported as yet. Some game
writers are writing Wine type emulators that are dedicated for a
particular game and they seem to run, from what I can gather, rather
well. Does anybody on the list know of an emulator that will work with
these games ?

One last thing. Does the club have any plans to hold a class on how to
use the command line ? I have seen many programs that I would like to
get but I don't know how or where to install them. It's just one of the
side effects of coming from windows with it's auto-install systems.
