The OSTC is teaching Linux, contact me off list if you are interested in persuing that idea. The First Testament:- http://www.gnu.org/manual/bash-2.05a/bashref.html The Second Testament:- http://www.tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/ Together these are the 'Holy Grail' for using the command line. > I have seen many programs that I would like to > get but I don't know how or where to install them. Mandrake has a software installer which is very easy to use, from (my bad) memory it's called the RpmDrake. There is also an application called urpmi. Try opening a Konsole or shell window and typing the single word urpmi. Don't try to install any program which does not come from Mandrake for the particular distribution you are running, because it's very easy to upset your Linux install if you do. > It's just one of the > side effects of coming from windows with it's auto-install systems. Linux is slowly but surely getting there too. The Gentoo 'emerge' command gets as near to perfection as I have seen on Linux. -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me, it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine. Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
