Hello Chris and Chad Thanks for your advice. Chris I tried what you suggested and it did nothing as a command line - well nothing happened and I got no response so I am reluctant to go down that line of operation. Chad, I tried what you wrote (after finally getting a xterm to work - maybe I was doing it wrong as it was my first time) and I got this reply after inputting your first line of command:- /dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 and so for another 10 lines or so This is way out of my league so I closed xterm.
What does it all mean or would you prefer to contact me off-list via phone to help me ? Your decision.
