you need to be more specific with your error messages > > I also had to install by doing rpm -i > Xfree86-server-4.3-5.mdk-i586.rpm --nodeps. > urpmi is the mandrake update tool. go read about it. if you had to do nodeps then you were missing something. it means you are missing a dependency, ie something that Xfree86-server-4.3-5.mdk-i586.rpm needs to work properly. urpmi will fix that. anyway the proper rpm syntax for updating is -U not -i. but as i said you should not need to use rpm. use urpmi.
