I'd go for /dev/hda1 at 9GB with everything in it, and 1GB of swap. I
base this on keeping it simple, me routinely using over 1GB of swap and
you having less memory than me.

Purists may want a boot partition. I gave up on them If you want to
split off partitions, split off a "home" partition to make distribution
switching easier.


My laptop was installed with Knoppix, but I doubt there's much of the
original install left now!
