I've mostly decided to do an evening course at polytech (CPIT) this year, so I'm filling out the Enrolment Form. Being a pedantic sort of person, I was reading the fine print of the "Student Declaration", and along with the standard statements (I declare this information is true and correct blah blah blah), came this jaw-dropper:
"I understand that this data may be sent over the internet unencrypted and therefore total security cannot be ensured."
I'm reluctant to sign the thing now. Why would they be sending my information over the internet anyway? And if they had to, why not encrypt it?
On a related note, their website is the worst one I've seen for a tetiary institution. I had to go to the website of other polytechs offering the same course to get some detailed information. If their website is an indication of the IT staff competency...
Cheers, Carl.
