Apparently you can buy a kit for ~ $US200, it comes with a harddrive,
keyboard & mouse.
OTOH, you can get an Xbox & do the following
1) get a USB memory stick (32Mb is enough)
$30-40NZ
2) butcher some USB cables up to provide you keyboard & mouse $14-28NZ
3) write a CDRW with an image of Ed's Xebian (Debian based)
$2
4) Hire MechCommander to activate the hack
$5
5) Buy USB keyboard + mouse
$30

And you're done. Depending on how much stuff you already have, running
Linux on an Xbox will cost you between $0 and ~$100NZ. Far better than
$200US. I recently helped a friend do this - You do not need to open
the Xbox or reflash the bios & it will still run Xbox games. It plays
DVDs & VCDs, etc really well - infact I am VERY impressed with the
quality of the TV output of it, puts my Geforce2 to shame.

All in all, I'd say return the PS2 & get an Xbox, it is easy & cheap to
mod, runs standard i386 binaries and the instructions are pretty
straight forward.

Cheers
Brad
