Getting it to ping is at least half the battle.
Also on the windows machine ( this is from XP ), you need Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area connection->Properties. Click on the Advanced button under the general tab, select he Wins tab, then Press the radio button against the Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP option. hth, Steve
