They don't even *need to ask*, it is GPL'd AFAIK! But asking IS more diplomatic I agree... =)

It is interesting I have to agree Jason - I have been following the Knoppix list for a while now and there has been quite a bit of discussion about the installer, how to improve it - add features that would allow you to set up home partition and so on. Klaus' position is that it is not a priority for him since the primary purpose of Knoppix is as a live CD for diagnostics and advocacy etc. In fact he often refers people with questions about hard disk installs elsewhere, since technically they are no longer "Knoppix" issues. That's fair enough I guess - it is his project, and as he readily admits there are plenty of other projects that have built on the original Knoppix that offer the features people keep asking him for.

So now we have this guy Warren who has written a real nice installer, works a treat (as does the Morphix one admittedly) and they are still trying to sort it out in the Knoppix camp, I am not sure why they don't just ask one of these guys if they can include their installer and be done with it. But whatever - I am happy with Mepis and will probably stick with it.
