Well, I bit the bullet and pressed the install button. The first thing I noticed was that whilst you could specify root swap and home partitions you couldn't split the install any further, this was annoying after careful discussion and consideration of how to partition the disk for Debian 3.0. So, I decided to press the auto button, which partions everything for you (on a 10Gb disk I asked for 1Gb to be left fallow, and got 7.5Gb / 512Mb swap and 1Gb /home). The install uses about 4.5Gb of the 7.5Gb in /
About 20 minutes later it was done. I created an account (minor gripe- minimum username length is set to 4 chars, which seems an unneccesary restriction) and set the root password. At this point I can easily go back to Debian, but MEPIS *looks* so *nice*. I must fiddle with the startup scripts, both for pump, to make sure it happens *after* PCMCIA and ethernet card drivers are loaded, and for the cs4232 audio support (which must be loaded late in the startup sequence). Aside from that it all mostly seems to work, so I'll set it up just how I like it and start installing and configuring more stuff. Anyone got Adobe's SVG viewer working with Mozilla 1.5 on Linux? I just tried it, following Adobe's instructions, and Mozilla says "I can't handle SVG - what would you like to do". Andy
