No worries, glad to help. I was also impressed by Mepis...makes you wonder how 1 guy (ok, basically 1 guy, kind of like Knoppix) can get things so right whilst major distro's can screw up horribly and yet they employ MANY developers and have many more beta testers too. It boggles the mind actually.
I reckon if Mandrake (LOL) hired this Warren guy from Mepis, as well as Klaus Knopper, well then they could fire the rest of em...just kidding of course. But it does beg the question of just how good the developers working for some of the major distro's can possibly be???

Thanks for the disks Jason
- Mepis loaded beatifully - very reminiscent of Knoppix - yet nicer in many ways. It is still a mix of Testing/Unstable, but you don't see any mention of Knoppix any where (well so far I didn't) like I've noticed in some others like Morphix. It didn't set up my winmodem like it hinted that it might - but I did it manualy OK - (which hasn't worked well on the latest Knoppix I tried). One thing I have noticed so far is that the fonts are nicer - better default selections. The hard drive installer is real easy - allows you to set up a home directory and so on as well, unlike knoppix. It was quick too - 20 mins or so on my PII-333
BTW - if anyone wants to try it out as a live install - I suggest that they copy the folder called "Linux" from the CD to the root of a FAT32 partition if you have the room (almost 700mb) - then boot as usual (or with a floppy) - but eject the CD after the kernel and miniroot have loaded - the installation will find the folder on the hardrive and loadup from there - it will feel like a normal installation - you can even use your CDrom/writer/DVD etc and if you are doing a hard drive install - it will do it more quickly and quietly - no thrashing of the cd drive (and cloop errors!) This works with Knoppix too - just copy the KNOPPIX folder. (It is called the poormans install).
I have to say that this loooks like it might be my distro of choice till I get a gruntier machine to try Gentoo on.
ciao
