I have been using OpenOffice for power point at the church I attend.. only problem is the lack of dual head display....and there it doesnt look like it will be done for a while... even though there have been many requests for it..... means you have to put some paper over the projector when you want a "Blank Screen" when changing between songs. Apart from that it has worked really well.
BUT I have started writing some "Song" software that uses Dual Head, and especially designed for how 99% of churches use it, and it will run happily on a low end Pentium quite happily (Probably even a 486!). All you will need is a cut down linux with dual head X display configured. No Window manager needed as the program will go full screen on both displays. Still has a long way to go, and I have a few to many projects on at the moment to work on it.
