Not necessary!! The original apt-get seems to have been sufficient, but I had shut the machine down overnight (because the fan is broken and very noisy). When I restarted it this morning I can get to sites using https with Konqueror. Hope this helps someone else. In other news, I have bought a new case for my EPIA-800 (mini-ITX) motherboard, because the fans are failing in the old case, so I'm going to move that one to another project. The new case is a VIA Sereniti 2000 case (from Ascent). I will post any comments I have on its construction and viability here, but I will start with the caveat that I have heard that the case is suitable for any mini-ITX board, but the front panel connectors can not be used with the EPIA-800 and EPIA-5000.
