You sure? Done a emerge sync reasonably recently?

Well it crashed yesterday afternoon, so I am breathing again. :-(

That's exactly what you should be doing.
I have just learnt the error of my ways.

I'm going to build an up to date Gentoo on the newly acquired 800MHz machine,
and then update the 400MHz P/II getting it ready for sale.
