I think that when we finnally have a CLUG meeting, a tutorial on busy list management might be a good idea.

There seem to be many people on our list that have no idea about filtering and threading. IMO this list absolutely *needs* to have these utilities applied.

One person cannot read every single message of an even moderately busy list. If they are subscribed to more than one of these lists then it may be physically impossible!
They need to be able to pick and choose which threads they want to read.

It's also why threadjacking is so annoying and also email clients that trash threads.

This is interesting and a little sad. One of Don's justifications for
persistently asking questions which some people found annoying was to
keep the list traffic up, so people could see something happening.

I also like what Don is doing because he asks questions which evoke answers that have filled in holes for me.

(I did not know about the id command I used to hunt around in shadow file and groups)

Keep it up Don!

Ironically here is a subscriber who has unsubbed because of too much traffic.

Being able to apply the tools is very important to reduce info-overload

See you and thanks for your contributions Lance (if you are still listening)

ditto
