I seem to recall that the situation might have been little shaky in the year or two gap before you became list admin, and after the previous list admin (was it Mark Aitchison?) left uni.

Mark Aitchison posted his final message on the list from his uni account on 09 Dec 1998 (responding to a question about long filename support on linux, if you must know), and his first message from his new job on 03 Jun 1999.

Zane's first post was 21 Jun 2000 (about what to tell MPs about open source). This was from a personal account though, I'm not sure when he officially had responsibility for the list maintainence.

My ancient records only go up to Oct 3 2000, and the on-line archive starts in Dec 2000, so there's a gap of...
