Um! Sorry, it wasn't really clear what I was getting at. Soooo... I didn't mean to suggest that The GIMP and GNOME would exist if the Linux kernel hadn't come along. I _did_ mean to suggest that The GIMP and GNOME would not have happened without GNU, and they don't mind pointing it out. (It matters to them. Why, do you suppose?)
