Yes. Find someone who has downloaded them already, & ask if they can be burnt to disk for you.
Sans YaST, our list gurus might wish to expand on how the updates are to be coordinated - is it RPM? & where on the filesystem do the downloaded updates get put / live?
just leaving the files on the cdrom and using rpm should install them ok, although the dependency issues will be annoying.
IIRC yast runs on the command line too, maybe Jeff should try that.
I still think we need to see YaST functional 4 u, hence the following Q's:
Have you looked up WellyLUG yet? A LUG closer to home? Do they respond to you?

By you telling us, there is no need for us to trawl their archives for the answers -
How much SuSE support is there on WellyLug? Aren't you nearer to the Waikato LUG, or Auckland? ..
The answers decide where you should take your PC - or have a LUGie visit you from - to get YaST working properly.
This may still prove necessary, pre-updates. Or an update may be the key to fixing YaST, on your hardware.
