Another live distro to check out is slax (http://slax.linux-live.org/) which has copy2ram functionality. I could be a little biased as it is based on Slackware so it seems very comfortable to me. It's targeted for the mini-cd so is small (~200MB) and relies on external modules for anything that is not included - which is a reasonable amount.
