Getting a modem which will work certainly kick-started me on my Linux 
experience. IMHO it is not worth stuffing around with modems.

I think that importing address books is best done by first exporting as a CSV 
(comma separated values) file and importing that. I think that the vCards can 
be imported/saved OK though (into Evolution)
