All,

The secret to humour is knowing when to leave it out.  In this case, the
extended sarcasm appeared to make fun of the original poster - a linux
newbie who needed encouragement not your derision.  It's forgivable, I
suppose, since I guess that like most geeks you aren't able to pick up
on normal social cues.
