They ask the same thing about how people like us cope with 3 (or more) buttons.
They reply that they use a really friendly OS that doesn't need lots of 
buttons.

Intuitively, one could argue that a mouse should only have one button. You 
point to something with your index finger? Would it have mattered if you 
used your ring finger? It is still the same object. (Hmm, I might not be 
able to support this - the second finger can be used for an obscenity).

Finally, have you ever watched a non computer orientated person (read 
newbie) use a mouse ? The frustration level goes up real high as the wrong 
thing happens when they click on the button. You look, and notice that 
they are pressing the wrong button. Yes, one button is definately simpler.
I watch my children using a win98 machine at home. Eventually, they have 
the idea, but it took a while.
