Nick,
Sorry to be a bother... You obviously know Linux FAR better than I
do... (newbie issues here). Hope you can forgive my ignorance... :@ You've
already been of tremendous help. Does the information below, generated by
the command given by you, help? Obviously must. I don't even know what this
information means... :$ I have no doubt that this modem problem can be
resolved by someone proficient with Linux... (like your good self). I guess
the "Invalid slot number" was the "0000:00:02.6" number...? Thanks for
resolving that, but I have no idea what to make of these generated results,
except that they give necessary information concerning the modem. So, on
with the research... Hmmm... yes, patience. Hoping to hear back soon, and
that all is well.
Regards (and good-night),

Nick,
Yes! Results are (typed in) :
0000:00:02.6 Class 0703: 1039:7013 (rev a0)
Subsystem: 1033:8216
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 5
I/O ports at 1000
I/O ports at 2400 [size=128]
Capabilities: [48] Power Management version 2
So, at least it doesn't say "Invalid slot number"... Seems we're
getting somewhere... ;) So now...? Yes, patience... ;)
