URPMI and hdlist.cz problems

We are trying to set up a Mandrake URPMI server thingy here on campus 
and it seems that the update part is not getting the files that are 
listed in the hdlist.cz file.

Is there either:
A) a way of reading the contents of the hdlist.cz file so we can confirm 
the automatic download worked ok
B) a way of recreating the hdlist.cz to match whatever we did manage to 
download.

My understanding of what a hdlist.cz file (from Googling) is that it 
contains a list of the rpm files within the repository so URPMI can 
easily find whatever it requires.

Or do I have that completely wrong.
