Could some-one tell me what I am meant to put in where it says mount

hda1( 2 Gb, Journalised FS : ext 3)_ _ _ _ _
hda6(1.3 GB Journalised FS : ext 3)_ _ _ _

If these are all you have, you could make the first the root (/) partition, the other home (/home).

It's probably better if you delete these, and create 2 partitions, a swap partition of about 1.5 times the
amount of RAM you have on the machine, the rest one big (/) partition. This is assuming you don't
have any other OS installed. It doesn't really matter what order you make them these days.

I don't think you can combine primary and extended partitions without rebuilding the disk.

Are you installing as a dual boot option?

If you are, then I'd let the installer confugure as it sees fit, but make sure that there's at least as much swap as there is memory on your machine. It's important to have plenty of swap when you;ve got limited memory available.

If you're not, then I'd take the option to trash the existing disk, and then let it install as it sees fit.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Steve
PS. You're not meant to install it correctly first time... none of us did (:
