Steve, cannot now find the howto i used, to the best of my recollection,
and with a bit of help from various info on the net:

1. browse to the alcatel, its on 10.0.0.138:80 by default. you will need
the password :-)

2. choose phonebook from down the side menu, and set it up for nz
parameters:

Name: arbitrary, I use NZDSL
VPI:0
VCI:100
type:pptp

Click Add

Go to pptp on the side menu and set up as follows:

Encap:VCMUX
HDLC framing:never

Now in ipcop log in via ssh (or at the monitor if it has one) and type
setup.

Go to Networking, then Address settings, Red, then choose PPTP, and IP
parameters for it to be able to communicate with 10.0.0.138 (the ones
you had ere probably ok, subject to the discussion you had with David
over netmasks)

Navigate your way out of that,

Now on the web interface go to networking/dialup and make a new profile,

Interface is pptp, once you have chosen pptp click "Refresh" , which
brings up a different range of options. In additional PPTP settings put
in the address of the speedtouch, and the name you gave the connection
on the speedtouch (NZDSL)

Also need your [EMAIL PROTECTED] details, auth is pap/chap.

Should now go!
