I have just acquired a 18mth. old ThinkPad.
The battery seems to be more or less ok at the moment. It last about two and a
half hours.

I have heard many conflicting opinions about what one is supposed to do, and
not do, to keep it in good health.

What is the list-wisdom on the matter?

These are some of the opinions I have heard.

Always run on battery, until it is completely discharged.

Always use mains power when available.

If you use the battery discharging to say 50%,
then always fully discharge before re-charging.

Always discharge completely even if you've only
used the 'puter for 5 minutes.

Don't worry about all of this nonsense.

What do folks do, if anything?

Sincerely etc.,
