There are about half a dozen different ways to do it, depending on protocol used and how minimal you want to make the requirements for the installed machine. It's possible to set things up so that the empty machine sends a resource request which you'd have to get another machine to answer, the rest is automatic. ftp, http and nfs are also possible with 9.2, but I think not all possibilities were on offer in all versions, and not all of those on offer worked in each version. You'd still have to boot the empty box somehow with something, I'm a bit unsure here but a CD will be a lot easier than a few floppies... Booting from CD1 will be sufficient in any case. Obviously you can always install a minimal system, set that up with NFS and then install more software, but I think some of the auto-stuff which you get during initial install might not be happening then. My advice would be go with DVD if you can, less hassle in the long run. Because the original DVD is double-size (32 and 64 bit) and either doesn't quite fit on a 4.7 DVD some packages have to go out. I managed to remove only translation packages for languages other than English and German, so if you're only interested in English and don't have a 64bit box there's nothing you could possibly miss. Dito for the 64bit. Obviously it's necessary to remaster, but it's otherwise identical.
